Yes, you can absolutely save with Raisin Ireland but you may be not be able to save with all of our partner banks. While it is possible for Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) to open savings accounts or deposit accounts with some of our partner banks, the final decision to accept an application rests solely with each individual partner bank.
Why does the partner bank need to make this decision?
Under anti-money laundering regulations, banks are legally required to apply enhanced due diligence and background checks to Politically Exposed Persons. Because each bank maintains its own internal compliance policies, approval depends entirely on their individual review. Please note that Raisin cannot check or guarantee in advance whether your application will be accepted by a specific partner bank.
Who is considered a Politically Exposed Person (PEP)?
A Politically Exposed Person (PEP) is someone who holds, or has formerly held, a prominent public position. This generally includes:
People who hold or have held high-ranking public, political, or judicial office at an international, European, or national level.
People who hold or have held a public office below the national level that carries a comparable political significance.
Close family members of these individuals, such as a spouse, partner, children, or parents.
